What Does Omake Mean?
Fic TypeA bonus scene or extra appended to a fic — often comedic, non-canonical to the fic itself, or a what-if outtake. The term comes from Japanese, where it means 'extra' or 'bonus.'
Omake in Practice
Anime and manga releases have long included omake — bonus comics, behind-the-scenes gags — and fans writing in those fandoms borrowed the word for the extra bits tacked onto a chapter: the joke version of the ending, the deleted scene, the cast breaking the fourth wall. The convention spread well beyond anime fandom and was a fixture of fic posted on FanFiction.Net, where chapters might end with several omake after the author's notes. The spirit is generosity and play: the main story is done, but here's a little more, free of charge, not to be taken seriously.
Example usage
"The omake at the end of chapter twelve reimagines the duel as a cooking competition, and it's perfect."

Crack
Deliberately absurd fanfiction — premises and events too ridiculous for canon, written for pure comedy. The name implies you would have to be on something to write it, or that the fic itself is addictive nonsense.

Drabble
A story of exactly 100 words — in strict usage, the count is the form. Loosely, the word gets applied to any very short fic, to the mild dismay of purists.

Canon
The official source material and everything established as true within it — the events, characters, and facts of the original book, show, game, or film. Fanfiction defines itself in relation to canon: following it, bending it, or discarding it.
