The trope front-loads conflict, which makes it a natural on-ramp to enemies-to-lovers: the couple's relationship has nowhere to go but up. Done well, the disastrous first impression becomes a running joke the characters revisit at their wedding. It thrives in modern AUs where mundane catastrophes — towed cars, ruined laundry, hostile neighbors — replace canon-level stakes.
