Gifmaking is skilled labor with its own tools, tutorials, and aesthetics, and prolific gifmakers function as a fandom's visual historians, resurfacing canon moments on anniversaries and after new episodes recontextualize old ones. The form's analytical power is real; a well-built parallel gifset can shift a fandom's reading of canon as effectively as a meta essay. Gifsets travel with the same etiquette as fanart: reblog the original, never repost.
